PRINT DESIGN & TRADITIONAL MEDIA

Graphic Design and Web Design is a business that often involves activities and results whose effectiveness can’t easily be quantified and measured. So, I’d like to share a few thoughts with you about what graphic design and web design can accomplish and what it’s true value is.

Good graphic design is about image building. Over time, all products and organizations develop personalities just as people do. Positive personalities (images and brands) are often among the most important assets any organization possesses. To not reinforce these positive visual images, or to not strength a weak one, is to leave a positioning vacuum soon filled by a competitor.

"I am very impressed with the work Lisa has done for us in this short time. She has a light touch, very appealing and attractive, plus real style." Audrey Heard, Art On Groton Bank

I can say that good graphic design is not always about beauty, style and fashion. It is not about just making things look pretty. First and foremost, it is about communication, and from a commercial standpoint, it should always have a direct bottom-line effect on any organization’s business. There is a commercial imperative today for graphic design quality and distinction. Creating strong visual identities is what graphic designers do!

But in today's world, graphic design has evolved into more than just commercial imperatives. As a growing profession, graphic design and its talented creatives, have been blurring the lines between what was once considered commercial design and fine art. Many designers have seen their work in galleries and exhibitions. While the focus is still on communication, topics and content now embrace social issues and messages, self expression, and design for design sake.
